My Specialized Sirrus has bottle bosses in the same place, at least I presumed they were bottle cage bosses, I haven't had to put anything there as there are already 2 sets of bosses within the frame triangle, I will have to check out the measurements to see what's compatible with it Confused Confused

allot of people put the bosses on the down tube for the crud catcher mud card for the front, but it might be too low

TBH......the bottom one could be for the crud catcher but ive never tried fitting one......the one in the triangle i wanted to use for a drinks bottle to use when out on an easy ride so i dont have to carry the camel bak but the full size bottle wont fit.......then some cages will go in but the rear swing arm comes up close to the bottom of the cage.

Ive looked at the side enter cages but never tried as the triangle wont take a full size bottle.

If you prefer a bottle to the camelbak on certain rides, you could try the ones that lock on to the back of the seat or the seat post by clamp, they may be a good choice for your bike.

If i had'nt already fitted the pump bracket on the seat post then i would but there was nowhere for that to fit.

You need to replace the existing bolts on the cable guides with longer ones so as to allow you to fit a water cage there, the exisiting bolts are very short.

you could always get one of those belts that carry water bottles for your easy rides.

seeing as though there is a thread already started, i shall ask my question...
i drink alot of water at home so when i get me bike i imagine im going to be drinking alot more. what kind of size hydration backpacks do you guys use? also... do you use packs that have additional room for other kit like waterproofs etc? if so, what size do you use and what make would you recommend?
cheer
alan

On the subject of use for the screws I bought a co2 tyre cartridge system that is mounted on a small bracket that will pick bottle screws up, so remove your pump, fit bottle to rear of seat, and co2 pump on bottle screws sorted.
