Starting at the Visitors Centre head out on the main trail through Bousdale Woods climbing up through Hutton Lowcross Woods still following the main track to Hutton Wood and the start of "the Unsuitables". At this crossroads carry straight on through Huton Wood, soon coming to a steep climb and passing the turn off to Highcliffe farm on your right. As the climb levels out you will come to a gate across the track, and a bench on your left and stunning views of Highcliffe Nab. Do not go through this gate, turn right and follow the track across the grass to the single gate. This is part of the Tees Link route. Go through this gate and keep the fence on your immediate right and plug on through this grass path until you come to the final gate which leads onto the open moor. Directly in front of you follow the wide track veering slightly to the left after about 200 yards, this will then become more clearly defined as it turns into a nice fast descent to Sleddale Farm. Watch out for the gate!!! At the bottom of the track turn right onto the tarmac and follow the climb up to Lonsdale plantation, turn right onto the road at the top and follow this to the gate where the track ends. Turn left and through the gate and follow this nice descent down to Lonsdale farm, then a nice steep tarmac climb. At the top of this climb take a right turn on the main track that leads in to the forest. Follow this track until it meets up with the main track that leads up to Capt Cooks Monument. Take a right here, for a nice fast downhill to Gribdale Gate car park. Through the gate here and cross the road and take the nice steep climb up the track sligtly to your right. Follow this to the top and swing left across the permanent puddle that is there, keep to the left and follow the track across to the wide grass track with the wall on your left. Follow this track, keeping the wall and views of Roseberry Topping on your left until you reach the gate that leads down to Ayton Common. from here turn right and follow the track to the fence at the boundary of the forest. Heave your bike over here and cross using the stile, take the wide track directly in front of you that leads in to the woods towards Hanging Stone. At the sharp bend, take a left for that nice descent and end up back on the main forest fire road. About 30 yards to the right and you will rejoin the route you came up earlier. Take a left here and follow the track for a fast descent back to the Visitor's Centre. This route was downloaded from: Mountain Bike Extreme - http://www.mtbe.co.uk
