Route Guide: Pinchinthorpe Circular Distance: 20KM / 12 Miles Difficulty: Medium. Time: About 1 hour and 30 mins. Starting with the Visitors centre on your left, head off down the track, passing the ponds on your left, you will shortly come to a low level metal gate across the forest road, there is then a steady climb into Bousdale wood. Passing the bench on our left at the top of this climb, follow this wide track until shortly after the loop in it where it rises to meet another track. take a right turn on to this track and follow the climb upwards. As this track begins to level out there is another steep climb to the left, follow this and at the top swing left. Follow this track through Blue Lake Wood until you come to a crossroads in the track shortly after a low level metal gate. At this crossroads take a right turn and climb up through the forest until you reach the open Moor at a wooden gate. Follow this wide track across the Moor, past the abandoned Observation point and down to Lonsdale Plantation on our right. Enter the woods (or whats left of them) here, and follow the track down and through the gate on to the road and go straight on through Lonsdale Farm and up the steep on road climb. There is then a very steep descent on road through Bankside Farm, but make sure to stop at the cottage on your left, Sandbanks I think it is called. Enter the forest here and follow the bridleway through the forest. You will come out on Coates Moor, follow the track and you will enter a another wood for a short distance before coming out onto an open area, where there are some mining ruins and some technical tracks to mess about on. This is the Red Run. Follow the track down across the fields going through a gate and some steep rooty section downhill until you come out on to the road. Go straight across the main road which leads left down to Great Ayton or right up to Capt Cooks. This minor road leads us up to Aireyholme Farm and we follow the track with good views of Roseberry Topping on our left. Going through the gate onto Roseberry Common we atke a right for a steep climb up to the small gate leading to Newton Moor, taking an immediate left here, follow the track for a short distance and re-enter Hutto Lowcross Woods and follow the track straight ahead of you. After a short distance the track peels off to the left for a nice downhill meeting up with a wider fire road at the bottom. Turn right here and after a couple of hundred yards take a left for a steep short downhill. You are now back on a track you have ridden up before. Take a right at the bottom of this track, some fast downhill, then a sharp left turn and follow this track all the way back to the Visitors Centre.
