Guisborough, Sleddale and Capt. Cooks.

A short but demanding hilly route with some fast descents thrown in for good measure. This is an ideal route for those wanting to increase general fitness levels, and has several points where the ride can be amended to increase its length without thened to resort to the tarmac.

Sneck Yate Bank.

A real killer, some absolutely mad climbs on this route highly unlikely you will see another rider on this trail no matter what day of the week you ride it.

Ingleby Forest Circular.

A fantastic blast through Ingleby Forest on some wide fire roads and some technical singletrack. There are some really hard climbing sections rewarded with fast downhills.

Baysdale.

This ride is demanding both physically and in terms of navigation. You traverse some very unused moorland in which you are unlikely to come across anyone else, so equipment needs to be in good order before you set off. The views are spectacular on this ride and the climbs at the end are pretty punishing, but overall it is a ride which will leave you feeling that you have accomplished something.

Commondale and Gisborough Moors.

This is an interesting and varied ride, especially for those with a liking for history, as it partly follows one of the ancient panniermans causeways - paved roads along which laden pack animals were led in former times - and also passes close by Guisborough Priory, worth a visit if only for the peace and quiet away from the traffic of this busy market town. The going is fairly mixed, with a couple of longish walks, but withthe compensation of some long descents and some very attractive scenery over Kildale Moor on the homeward section.

Great Ayton Moor, Kildale Moor and Easby Moor.

This is a shorter ride, especially suitable if you do not have a lot of time, and offers a good mix of terrain and fairly simple navigation. The area around the start seems popular with a lot of the local mountain bike racing fraternity, who obviously use it as a practice area - but do not let the expensive machinery and dayglo silly suits put you off, just get plodding off up that first hill and leave them to it. There is a fair climb to begin with, but the rest of the ride is easy going, apart from the last hike back up to the carpark.

Levisham, North York Moors Railway and Cropton Forest.

Definately a dry weather ride, so leave this one until after a sustained period of dry weather. (If such a thing ever happens!) as the section along the railway can get very boggy at times.
