I made the age old error in thinking i got myself an ebay bargin with a pair of 2005 Pike Rockshox. When they arrived, nicely packed and all I found the lil monkey had done some cunning photography and had not show the extent of the abuse to the paint work, some deep gouges in the towers back through to the alloy and some large areas on rubbing on the crown area. Dont really want to put these on my shinny new dream pike project as they are and was wondering if anyone has ever tried getting there rockshox repainted??

TBH......the price of a new set sort of out weighs the hastle of getting them serviced and repainted.

What about doing them yourself. Question

Nitromors, wire wool, etc., etc. then visit a motor shop for some nice shiny auto primers and paints, finished off with a deep coat of lacquer.

If they are alloy and you are stripping them back to the alloy dont forget that the first coat of primer must be an acid etch primer otherwise the paint will flake off very easy.

I have had a good look at them and they seem to be painted in a very tough coating what almost seems more plastic than paint, something really tough that doesnt seem to dent but soft enough to be gouged. If i can get them apart I think i will look at having them painted professionally. If not i will sell them on and take the loss i guess.
