First of all, hello and welcome to the forum!

If the bike is mainly going to be used for work and back, I would really suggest a hardtail, so I would scrap the Kona for the time being.

Again, if it's only mainly going to be used for work and back, are you sure you really want to spend that much? Something like this would probably suit you, with a much smaller price tag: http://bikescene.co.uk/moreinfo.php?variation=1227&sale=0

yep i would agree with dale about the hardtailand if you can get lockout on the forks that would be good for the roads(asuming you use roads to get to work?)

how about this
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/kona/caldera-2008-mountain-bike-ec 000766

also i like scott's so what about this
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/scott/scale-60-2008-mountain-bike- ec001242

it depends how much and what you'll be riding the bike on as you said on the weekends

i like these tyres if your going to be on the roads and i think would still be decent on the trials

although you can get cheaper ones Wink

and of course welcome to the forum Very Happy

If you considered the Marin Northside and are prepared to go up to £800, then I would definetely go with the Marin Palisades Trail rather than the Northside Wink

Mighty fine bike in my opinion Wink
