Hi, some of you might have noticed that I hadnt been on for about a week, its ok I am still here. We set out to go to our sons house last Friday for a couple of days (planning to be back at work on the Monday morning). Chatting with our son and his partner about a business venture between the four of us that we had thought about for a few months, we took the plunge and set up the business. Our son and his partner have 4 properties renting 3 out and paying the mortgauge on all 4 so we decided to start a residential lettings business, saw the bank set up an account, sorted a BT phone call directing package, sorted a P.O. Box number, Formed a Limited Company and registered it, Got VAT registered, Called other letting agents for their terms, sorted out our own terms of trading, Drawn up a website of our own, Signed up with Rightmove.com, Printed our own TO LET signs, Bought a controling software package, and signed up for data protection. Just got back in now on Sunday night a week later than planned but pleased that the effort has been worth it in the long term. We go live this Wednesday.
So now you know where I have been and why I havnt been on here for a week.
Brian. (Director) Henson & Ball Residential Lettings.

I now type slower because I am worn out. It was a refreshing change to open up the workshop doors and do a little physical work today (just a little though). We are all confident that this venture will work. Thanks guys for all the support and if all goes to plan you never know you might just get the sponsor we require for the Jersey.

It should help with our lettings business as people that are trying to sell second homes say when 2 people get married like everyone else at the moment are finding it hard to find a buyer to sell one of the houses to so why not keep it until the property market turns round again in say 3 to 5 years time instead of selling it at a loss but make some money out of it by letting it out to people that likewise cant get a mortgage because of the credit crunch. Another help for us is that the unemployment figures are going up so people are having to move at short notice to follow the jobs. We will also be prepared when the market does turn round to form ourselves into an Estate Agents and offer financial services and mortgages for home buying as well, but at the moment that would be like taking a load of freezers to sell in the north pole.

My wife was talking about this tonight after watching the Location special on channel 4. We've been looking to move up to a bigger house but would struggle to sell our house in the curent climate. How could you help? What support would you give?
