Great news, John.

I used to enjoy my running but after a long run in late November I must have injured my forefoot, I think it seems like a stress fracture but I can't be sure and 2 of my toes are pointing in queer directions, so I think they broke at the same time and have set awkwardly. I have just made a doctors appointment to get it sorted as walking is extremely painful even now.

having your toes pointing in queer directions is not good Confused , i've had my fair share of injuries over the years, worst being achilles tendonitis couldnt run for about 4 months, and had to pull out of the london marathon, which made things worse.

Tell me about it Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Not being able to run, after doing so for nearly 31 years is very, very frustrating. Like you, I have had my fair share of injuries, mostly picked up from my martial arts training, but things have always come right in the end without the need for medical intervention, but this stress fracture is just not having it, being in a job where I am on my feet for 13 -14 hour shifts doesn't help up much either I suppose Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Martial arts training? I'll have to find out more on the forum ride. I used to dabble. Karate (Wado-kai, shotokan), aikido and Kickboxing to name them all.
