Got a definite answer off Orange today. Spoke to a tech guy and he confirmed that the 2008 Orange 5 AM is only supplied with a 32T bigger ring on its double & bash setup. Anyone, with a 5, running 36T must be using extra spacers at the bb and may be limited as to which gears they can use efficiently.
On another forum heard from another 5 owner that uses a chain guide, that connects to the bb similar to an e-type front mech, and he seems to be able to run 36T ok.
I think more chain guides etc are a bit overkill for me as I just wanted to stop knacking my big ring (Oh-er Shocked ). Off to Dalby tomorrow with the 32T & bash fitted so will see if I miss the big ring.

Thanks for all the suggestions & help thats been given.

Cheers, Sean

PS Anybody really want to buy a 36T chainring? Rolling Eyes

My mate Rich might have it off you Sean - he's converting his 'dale to a two-ring set-up. How much and what is it?

Its a 36T Deore 4 bolt 104mm, cost me £8, fitted once, never used. Sad
What crankset has he got?
