Well, that's it, 1st September, first day of Autumn........... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Summer, 2008 is well and truly behind us, consigned to memory and our computer hard drives........ Crying or Very sad

Apparently August has been the cloudiest since records began, and if you took any notice of my wife then this Summer must also be the wettest since records began Confused Confused

But, looking back, how's it been for you Question

Did you ride as much as planned...........?

Could you have got out more...........?

Did you hit your targets..............(didn't you have any...... Shocked )

What's it going to be like next year. Question

Well....Didn't get out as much as I wanted but family and work come first....

But I did manage to get Glentress twice and had a scream both times.

Looks like next year is going to be a quite one for me as kid number 2 is on the way... Surprised

yeh well the summer is over but all that means for me is a new racing season next year and some cyclo-cross in the winter Very Happy

looking back its been a great first year of proper biking and has got me craving more.

didnt have any targets but iv'e set myself a target of top 5 placeing's for as many races as i can so that means lots of training in the winter. also just realised looking on the league 2000 website over all on the night i come third place i think both times, with 90 points out of 100

Me.........

Well, I managed to ride, ride and ride some more, both on and off road.
To be quite honest, I didn't really have any problems with the weather apart from having to cancel only 2 road rides due to exceptionally heavy rain Crying or Very sad

The only targets I missed were the longer rides I had planned, such as Scarborough and back and 2 long day tours of the Dales.

In fact I spent a lot less time in the gym over the Summer at the expense of being out on the bike, and my only real whinge is that I've had to clean the bike more as the trails have been a lot wetter. Usually you can have a blast over the Moors above Guissy or Clay Bank and get home with only a layer of dust over your bike, but not so this year Rolling Eyes

just a quick question instead of opining another post...

me and eli'd have started carving our way through the local woods making new trials

do you think the wetter weather will be good for this as i'm finding the earths shifting easier Question

Very Happy Very Happy Well here I am King Kong on the telly and a Glass of wine in my hand. Wife gone to bed so on with the computer. Worked until 2020 this evening in London from 0730 this morning installing a new distribution board in a night club.

It sure has rained over the last month or so, summer is over but the weather never stops me going out. Managed to get the South Downs nailed in May when the weather was good. Been out most nights on the Downs come hell or high water (the later is a distinct possibillity Very Happy Very Happy ).

Aveage 15 to 20 miles a night and any direction out of Petersfield means a climb, some short and steep up to 300meters others drawn out over a few miles up to 150 meters once up there though am spoil for where to go. Chalk drains well but is as slippery as hell in the wet.

The only goal I seem to set myself is to break as little as possible thats on the bike and my body. 4 bones this year and complete gear set front and rear since April (not been a good year for goals Very Happy Very Happy ).

Will continue through the winter using headlamps and whatever I can going is slower in the dark nights but the weekends are mine to do as I please. Winter means cloud cover to ground level with damp fog or mist at the 300meter level but I love it up there and get out when I can.

Elder, how the hell have you broke 4 bones? That must have been some hell of a single crash or you've been really unlucky on several occasions! Shocked

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Just been unlucky I guess 2 ribs on one hit and 2 bones in my hand 3 days later. Truth be known the ribs lead to the hand accident pain on a downhill stretch caused bad pins and needles in my arms let the handlebars go loose for a second and over the top I went. Put my hand out to save my chest and crushed it with my body weight. Bads, helmet and gloves save the worst damage. Very Happy Very Happy Played havoc with my south downs ride a week later but still made it.
